Guidelines for WBL during the Corona Virus Interruption

1. Please know that if you (parents/students/mentors) have any questions or concerns at any time, please email or text one of your WBL coordinators. Ms. Moore and Ms. Mayfield will be monitoring their emails while we are temporarily out of school. (See contact information below)
2. Dawson County School System RECOMMENDS that WBL students do not report to any WBL intern site during the time Dawson County School System is not in session due to the impact of the Corona Virus.
3. While some of our students have paying internships, If an parent/student/employer still wants the student to work (similar to working during the summer when school is not in session, or on spring break) the parent/student/employer should know that the students fall outside of the WBL program. The school learning program, monitoring and supervision from a WBL Coordinator is not available during the time the school is closed. ULTIMATELY, THIS IS A DECISION FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS & THEIR STUDENT.
4. No student will be penalized for hours not worked or recorded during this Corona Virus Interruption.
5. However, because there is a standard for number of hours worked for the student to earn their grade or credit, the coordinators will be loading a small “Weekly Assignment” into the students CTAE portfolio, which will take the place of their hours until we resume a normal schedule. *Students know how to access their CTAE portfolio. Realize there will be an assignment located in the assignment dashboard uploaded in the next day for the Week of March 16-March 21. Should our school system be closed further, students should check their CTAE portfolio for additional assignments for each week.

As always, the safety and well being of each of our WBL students is the utmost concern. Please know that we are available for each of you should you have questions or concerns.

For further reminders: We encourage WBL students & parents to join and follow the WBL remind account. (Many WBL students already are members) Future reminders concerning WBL will be sent through this system.
